We’re helping a profitable, bootstrapped travel-tech company with over 2 million subscribers grow their team. As they evolve from a deal-alert platform into a data-powered travel experience, they’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to play a key role in scaling their data infrastructure.
This is a fully remote position open to candidates based in the European Union, working EU hours preferred, but overlap with US hours is required.
💼 The Role
You'll lead the design and development of modern data platforms — building scalable, reliable pipelines that empower analytics, product, and machine learning teams. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to shape how data drives business and customer value.
🌍 Remote-first. EU-based candidates only.
Must be authorized to work in the EU and available to overlap with US business hours.
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
Architect and implement scalable ETL pipelines and data-lake solutions
Work with technologies like Spark, Kafka, Databricks, AWS (EMR, Glue)
Collaborate with data science & analytics to support advanced use cases
Define and uphold data engineering best practices
Lead by example — review code, mentor team members, and drive performance
🎯 You Bring
6+ years in data engineering (2+ in a leadership/tech lead role)
Strong experience in Python, SQL, dbt, Airflow
Proficiency with cloud platforms (especially AWS), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
Understanding of data governance, security, and performance tuning
Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in remote teams

AWS or Databricks certifications
Terraform / CloudFormation
Real-time data pipeline experience
Experience in subscription-based businesses
